Houston has many opportunities to get moving and enjoy the great outdoors. From racing through history at the San Jacinto Texas Independence Fun Run to supporting the Houston Parks and Recreation Department at the Bayou City Classic, there’s something for everyone.
Yoga enthusiasts can also practice their moves at Rienzi House Museum or join Zumba by Tiny Fitness at Levy Park for a fun dance and toning workout to different beats.
The San Jacinto Texas Independence Fun Run offers a choice of a 10K, 5K run, 5K walk, or 1K kids’ run, all along the battlefield where Texian soldiers fought and won Texas independence in 1836. Proceeds from the Bayou City Classic are donated to the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, and the event features Texas’ oldest 10K race, hand-cycle/pushrim, and a family-friendly 5K Fun Run/Walk.
No matter your fitness level or interest, these events are a great way to stay active and enjoy Houston’s beautiful surroundings. So lace up your shoes and get moving!
